Spring break in oregon

Well, the biggest news is that i got an app that lets me make this post with the ipad, so i don'tneed to haul the laptop with me.

And, then there is the trip.  The pictures are on the phone so they will be posted later. We went to the Oregon Shakespeare festival in ashland. We had no idea what to expect, but we had heard about it forever so we thought we would try it. We saw the tempest, which was pretty good. One actor was fantastic - the comic relief, Sebastian i think his name was. I was disappointed in prospero - he did everything well enough, but as bob said, one never felt he cared. He should be the puppet master,, instead he was approachable. Underplayed is ok, but it must be played somehow.

Anyway, we continued on to the coast, taking all day to get to newport because we stopped all the time.
We stopped at a covered bridge outside of roseberg.
We HAD stopped at a creamery in Medford, but it was not open so we continued on our way.
We stopped in reedsport to look for whales and look at the lighthouse.
We tried to stop at seal caves. But they charged a lot so we kept going.

We stopped at Yachats to check out the tidepools and take a walk. The spray was huge!  I tried to take a picture getting spray, with mixed success.  And, there was an arch in the rocks - so you could see under the rock and over the water.  It was pretty small.  I do not think you can see it in this picture, but it was definitely cool.

And finally we got to newport, where i went for a long walk on agate beach while bob practiced. Then we went to the Rogue brew pub. I have pictures of a bridge, a theater, a beach, tidepools.

Then, before we left, we went for another long walk on Agate BEach, and saw this fantastic sand castle.  It must have taken HOURS to make.  It almost looks like a town!  Congratulations to the family who made it.

Comments:
Sounds like a good time! It's too bad you didn't get seals. Didn't we get to see them on a dock around in that area? Maybe it was sea lions. Do you think you wanted Prospero as more manipulative or as more of a bad guy or that he just plain wasn't committed to his objective?
