There are spring animals in the yard. Last week, after I put out the birdseed in the bird feeder, I decided the dead hanging planter needed seeds also. After all, the juncos and towhees want to scratch for stuff, just like chickens.
So, I put some birdseed in the basket, right on top of the dirt and leftover plants. The birds enjoyed it. So did someone else.
And, yesterday, I was working outside. Soren, having been asked twice to mow the lawn, had decided to play computer games instead, so I was doing it on my own. Which did not irritate me at all.
I had decided to try to get rid of some of the grass which has grown in among the violets, which would also require removing the violets. this is a spade and fork operation. When I put the fork in the ground, there was a movement of green. A very hoppy movement. I called Soren (who resisted the call until I said - there's an animal in the yard!). I asked him to bring the camera, but he didn't hear that. When I went back to get it, the animal was STILL in the yard. Wonder of all wonders. Here you have it.
