Baku Day 1.
I am here in Baku, and I"ve just spent a marvelous day with my sister Anne and brother-in-law Marc.  We walked around the central part of the city, strolling through parks and around the "old City", down to the waterfront, and along the Bulvar.  That's the name for the park that fringes the bay.  We came back through more of the city, and big girl that I am, I got to lock and unlock the door to the apartment!  I did it right on the second try!  Then this evening, Marc and Anne made a delicious dinner - and I went out All By Myself and got a piece of chocolate cake for us to share.
This is a picture of Anne and Marc.  They're by a park.  Of which there are several in Baku.  I don't even remember whether this one was special or not, but at least I have one picture of them.

The next picture is probably my favorite.  This has the city walls in the background.  The walls resemble a castle, crenelations and all.  They surround the old part of the city, which I will be exploring tomorrow. We did not go in, because today was just to give me my bearings.  But, not only does it have the city walls in the background, you also see the colonnade and park next to the symphony museum.  The light fixtures are black and gilt, as is the fountain.  This picture does it all!
There are lots of museums in Baku, also, but I only am telling you about this one today.  Maybe tomorrow I"ll see another one - the carpet museum (we are in the land of flying carpets) is on the list.

We also walked along the waterfront park, called the Bulvar.  I thought that was for Boulevard, but I"ve been told it means Park.  And, here you see some trees with really interesting trunks - possibly olive trees - just standing there being artistic, waiting for someone to take their picture.  I was happy to oblige.
